Located at a height of 1100 meters above sea level, the Vagamon hill station of Kerala provides a holiday retreat all the year through except during the monsoon months from June to September. At a distance of 100 kilometers from Cochin and 60 kilometers from Kottayam, this serene and beautiful hill station can be described as a true heaven on earth. Green hills, velvet soft lawns as also the cool mountain breeze exhilarates and rejuvenates the tourist. Vagamon is not only a trekker’s haunt but also a haven for adventure tourism as the place offers opportunities for activities like paragliding, mountaineering as well as rock climbing. The chain of three hills Thangal para, Murugan Hill and Kurisumala is a mark of religious acceptance. The Indo-Swiss Project, the church atop the Kurisumala and the dairy farm run by the monks at the Kurisumala Ashram are worth visiting.
